Know what is Thalassemia disease

If we talk about the disease called Thalassemia, it is a blood disorder in which red blood cells are not produced properly in the child’s body and the lifespan of these cells is also short. Usually, this disease affects the child since birth, in which it appears in two types – minus and major, here in the case of minor, people lead a healthy life. Due to depletion of blood cells in this disease, children need at least one unit of blood every 21 days. Which is offered to them. But still these children do not live a very long life. Even if some people survive, they often suffer from some disease and are unable to enjoy life.

Is it hereditary?

Let us clarify whether Thalassemia disease is hereditary or not, this disease is hereditary in which if symptoms of this disease are seen in one of the parents then it can be passed on to the child. For this, the doctor advises to get the necessary medical tests done if symptoms appear before planning a child or before marriage.

If either of the parents has this disease and it is mild then generally there are less chances of this disease being transferred to the children. Even if symptoms of this disease are seen, the child is able to live his life almost normally. Many times, he does not even realize throughout his life that there is any problem in his body.

– If both the parents have this disease but both of them have mild (less fatal) disease, then the child is more likely to have thalassemia. Also, this disease can be in a serious condition in the child, whereas the disease in the parents is not serious.
