Aamir Khan starrer film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ will complete 32 years in Hindi cinema on 22nd May. On this occasion, actor Deepak Tijori remembered the old days and told how he was forced to cycle like crazy for this film. Sharing his memories, Deepak, who played the role of Shekhar Malhotra in the film, said, ‘It was a new style, a new thinking, a new subject and a new setup for me. Mansoor Khan (director)’s working style was very unique.
Had old friendship with Aamir Khan
Deepak further said, ‘I already knew Aamir, so it was not at all a matter of working with any star. Aamir and I were senior-junior in the same college and we had worked together before, where I played a small role as his friend. Deepak played the role of a sports champion of his college competing against Aamir in the film, which also stars Pooja Bedi and Ayesha Jhulka.

He said, ‘I was not dieting and things like that, but yes, I was forced to cycle like crazy. I had no sense of sportsmanship, I took training from some national champions who were racing with us as contestants. I remember that first day when Aamir, Mansoor Khan and all the national cyclists were shocked to see my performance.

Thanks to Aamir for recommending me to Mansoor. Deepak told an interesting anecdote related to director Mansoor. He said, ‘I remember one evening before going to shoot for my fight scene with Mamik Singh (Aamir’s elder brother in ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’), Mansoor called Aamir and me to his room. Told us that tomorrow there is Mamik’s fight sequence with Deepak. He asked Aamir what should happen in your opinion, it should be a one-sided fight where Deepak gets beaten or Mamik and Deepak give equal competition to each other or what do you think. Also said that the director was a very thoughtful person.
