Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Rae Bareli, Dinesh Pratap Singh, has accused the Gandhi family of having ‘hatred’ towards Rae Bareli-Amethi and asked why the Congress has fielded party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi instead of any local leader from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat. Singh, who is challenging Rahul Gandhi in the electoral contest on the high-profile seat of Rae Bareli, also claimed in an interview with ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that Rahul would win by more votes than his mother Sonia Gandhi’s victory margin in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, this was Sonia’s smallest victory margin in five elections, including a by-election on the Rae Bareli seat.
Dinesh Pratap Singh said – Gandhi family hates Rae Bareli-Amethi
Dinesh Pratap Singh alleged that the Gandhi family hates Rae Bareli-Amethi and that is why since 1952, they have neither fielded any native from these seats in the Lok Sabha elections nor sent anyone to the Rajya Sabha. He claimed, “The Gandhi family is filled with so much hatred for Amethi-Rae Bareli that from 1952 till now, the Gandhi family has never given a Lok Sabha ticket to any person born from the womb of a mother in Rae Bareli. No son from Rae Bareli was sent to the Rajya Sabha and the Gandhi family did not even make anyone from Rae Bareli the MP representative. Pointing towards Congress candidate from Amethi, KL Sharma, Singh said, “The MP representatives Has also been brought from outside. Today it is in front of the people. Can the person brought from Ludhiana, who is Priyanka Gandhi’s clerk, contest elections from Amethi? Were there no Congress leaders in Amethi?
“Ticket given to person from Ludhiana in Amethi”
The BJP leader said, “The hatred that the Gandhi family has towards Amethi-Rae Bareli is manifested in the form that we will not give ticket to any person from Amethi or Rae Bareli but will give ticket to someone from Delhi or Ludhiana.” Singh claimed that this time the people of Amethi-Rae Bareli will give a befitting reply to the Gandhi family for its attitude. While Rahul Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli seat, Kishori Lal Sharma, close to the Gandhi family, has been fielded from Amethi seat. Singh refused to consider Rae Bareli as the political stronghold of the Congress, saying, “The fort is one in which the party has four-five MLAs, eight block chiefs, 10 district panchayat members.” In Rae Bareli, Congress does not have any head or block chief, MLA, Legislative Council member or District Panchayat President.

He claimed that Congress does not have a single MP in Uttar Pradesh. Even though Sonia Gandhi has the certificate of MP, theoretically she is not an MP. Singh claimed that even though Sonia had contested the 2019 elections on a Congress ticket, she had actually won as a representative of four parties, as the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Apna Dal (Kameravadi) faction had supported her. He argued, “If she had contested the election only as a Congress representative, you would have found that I would have won by lakhs of votes only against Congress candidate Sonia Gandhi.” Singh said, “You cannot imagine that in Rae Bareli. What a misfortune Congress has faced. When I contested the elections in the year 2019, I contested on the score of 2017 assembly elections. In 2017, all the assembly candidates of Congress got a total of three lakh 40 thousand votes and I got three lakh 60 thousand votes. Then in the 2022 assembly elections, Congress’s score is 1 lakh 40 thousand votes. Looked at this way, Congress has already lost two lakh votes.
People have faith in PM Narendra Modi
Singh said that the current Congress candidate from Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi, does not have the support of the parties which Sonia Gandhi had got, so there is no doubt that Rahul Gandhi will lose by a bigger margin than the number of votes that Sonia Gandhi had won in 2019. . Expressing confidence of his victory from Rae Bareli, he said, “People have great faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under his leadership, the country as well as the people’s hard-earned money is safe. The people of Rae Bareli also trust the Prime Minister.” When asked about Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra camping in Rae Bareli and campaigning for her brother Rahul, Singh said that it could be a topic of discussion for those media persons. There are people who have come from outside but their camping here is not an issue for the people of Rae Bareli. He said in typical dialect, “Today we have come out, we wonder which village is left where women are not standing with rolling pin (rolling pin) to welcome them.” Singh said that it should not be believed that Congress is invincible in Rae Bareli because after the Emergency, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had also lost the election from this seat.
