New Delhi. Air India Express Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alok Singh on Wednesday said the company will cut flights for the next few days to deal with the unavailability of crew members. The airline has had to cancel more than 90 flights due to crew members falling ill.

Singh said in a message to the airline’s staff that since last evening, more than 100 crew members have reported sick ahead of their scheduled flight duty. This is seriously disrupting operations at the last minute. He said that more than 90 flights have been disrupted due to this situation.

Singh said, “This situation is developing across the network. This forced us to cut back on flights for the next few days. “We had to take this step to cope with the unavailability of crew members and to fix the flight schedule.”

Tata Group-owned Air India Express operates around 360 flights a day under the summer flight program that started in late March. (agency)
