Air India Express announces reduction in its flights amid crew member crisis

New Delhi: On one hand, more than 70 flights of Air India Express were canceled or delayed from last Tuesday night till this morning. News agency ANI, citing aviation sources, said that a section of the airline’s crew members took sick leave at the last moment. Due to this, now more than 90 flights have been cancelled. Due to which many thousands of passengers have to face problems.

Many more flights will be canceled in the coming time
There is also news that the employees who have gone on mass sick leave have also switched off their phones. In such a situation, it is now believed that many more flights may be canceled in the coming time. Along with this, huge protests by angry passengers were seen at all the airports of Kerala on Wednesday against the last minute cancellation of Air India Express flights.

Striking employees terminated
Here Air India Express has terminated many striking employees. The company terminated him for disturbing the operations by carteling and violating the terms and conditions of appointment. In this situation, 25 employees have been dismissed so far. Not only this, Air India Express has written a letter to all the employees. You have been asked to discuss your problem openly. On Mass Sick Leave, the staff is requested to reconsider and take a decision in favor of the company and the passenger. Management is ready for talks at every level.

Passengers not happy with Air India

Most of these passengers traveling to Gulf countries had claimed that they were informed about the flight cancellation after completing security checks and were waiting to board the flight. However, Air India Express has offered a full refund or rescheduling for another date. But passengers are not happy with this offer.

Shock to Tata Group
Let us inform you that Air India Express, owned by Tata Group, operates about 360 flights daily. But due to more than 100 crew members suddenly going on sick leave, the airline had to cancel 90 of its flights in the last two days. In fact, the senior cabin crew members of Air India Express have gone on a strike to press their demands.

Last Tuesday, when many of the airline’s flights were about to take off, at the last moment cabin crew members reported being ill and switched off their mobile phones. Until the cabin crew issue is resolved, Air India Express will face further disruption in its operations.

Report being sought from Air India Express
Meanwhile, the Regional Labor Commissioner has sought information from aviation regulator DGCA regarding the ongoing conciliation process regarding the dispute between the Air India Express management and a section of crew members. Along with this, a request has also been made to find immediate solution to the issues. But Air India Express CEO Alok Singh has said that the company will further reduce flights in the next few days to deal with the unavailability of crew members.
