The man admitted to smoking a cigarette in the flight bathroom.

Mumbai: The craving for cigarettes is such that many times people put their own lives as well as the lives of others in danger. Recently, a similar incident has come to light in a flight coming from Muscat, Oman to Mumbai. According to reports, a 51-year-old man has been caught for smoking in the washroom of the flight coming from Muscat to Mumbai. Giving information about this, an official said that the incident took place in Vistara’s ‘Eukre234’ flight which took off from Oman’s capital Muscat to Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai at 11.56 pm on Monday night.

Man caught because of ‘smoke detector’

The officer said that a person named Balkrishna Rajyan, who was on board the flight, went to the washroom of the plane and started smoking a cigarette. According to the official, Rajyan is a resident of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. He said that the incident came to light when the pilot of the plane came to know about it due to the ‘smoke detector’. The officer said that the pilot informed the crew members about this, after which they checked the washroom. Crew members found a cigarette butt in the wash basin. He said that after the flight landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Tuesday morning, the crew members informed the security supervisor about the inappropriate behavior of the passenger.

Passenger showed match box during interrogation

After getting information about the incident, the security officer took Balakrishna Rajyan to his office and interrogated him about his actions. Rajyan admitted that he had smoked inside the washroom. The officer said Rajyan also showed the matchbox used for lighting cigarettes. He was later taken to Sahar police station in the city, where the security supervisor filed a complaint against him. According to reports, the police have registered an FIR under relevant sections and are investigating the matter.
