Akasa Air Now, passengers have been allowed to carry pets weighing up to 10 kg in the cabin of domestic flights. The airline on Wednesday announced an increase in the weight of pets that can be carried on flights. It has taken this step keeping in mind the customer feedback. Akasa Air in November 2022 allowed passengers to travel with cats and dogs in the cabin or cargo, depending on their weight, on domestic flights.

More than 3,200 pets traveled

Earlier, the weight limit for pets inside the cabin was seven kilograms, which has now been increased to 10 kilograms. Pets weighing up to 32 kg are allowed in cargo, the airline said in a statement. More than 3,200 pets have flown on the airline’s flights since the service began in November 2022. Among Indian airlines, apart from Akasa Air, only Air India allows pets in the cabin while SpiceJet allows pets in cargo.

Labor department will seek information from DGCA

The Regional Labor Commissioner will seek information from aviation regulator DGCA regarding the ongoing conciliation process regarding the dispute between the Air India Express management and a section of crew members. A source gave this information. Tata Group-owned Air India Express is in the process of merging loss-making AIX Connect with itself. AIX Connect was earlier called Air Asia India. Meanwhile, Air India Express has canceled over 90 flights since Tuesday night after a section of crew members reported falling ill in protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline. The airline has said that it is taking all possible steps to resolve the problems.
