Praveen Malviya, Bhopal. Morphing (editing) in videos and photos using deep fake technology of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a big threat. Cyber criminals have started using it as a weapon for fraud, but the solution to avoid this has come in the form of a platform. Edited videos and photos can be stopped through stopncii.org i.e. stopncii.org website which prevents revenge porn. For this, it is mandatory for the complainant to have the original photo and video.

Editing anyone’s videos and photos is no longer a big deal. Recently a video of actress Rashmika Mandhana went viral. Later it was revealed that it was made by editing. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself expressed concern over this technology and said that he has been shown performing Garba with the help of deep fake technology. Even prominent personalities are falling prey to it. In such a situation, it is very difficult for common citizens, especially girls who are victims, to escape from it.

To help people trapped in such situations cyber cell Is promoting a platform. According to the cyber cell, the victim will have to go to stopncii.org website, create his case and upload the original photo and video along with the morphed photo-video. As soon as the case is confirmed to be true, these videos will be removed from various platforms of internet media.

This is how the platform works

Cyber law expert Yashdeep Chaturvedi says that this platform is operated by the international organization Revenge Porn Helpline. Any citizen of any country can get his/her personal or objectionable photos and videos uploaded on many internet platforms across the world removed. When a complaint is received, these platforms create a hash value (code file) of that video and send it to their associate partners.

In this way, a video is removed from multiple platforms with one request. Google could have been the biggest partner of this initiative but due to lack of partnership till now, videos are not removed from YouTube. Yashdeep Chaturvedi says that the Government of India should also create such a platform and direct all internet media platforms to stop videos of Indians becoming victims of cyber crime.
