Afghanistan Cricket Team
Cricket matches in the Asian Games 2023 will be played from 27 September to 7 October. Asian Games 2023 is being organized in Hangzhou, China. Now the Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced the men’s team for the ongoing Asian Games. Gulbadin Naib has been made the captain of the team. At the same time, young and experienced players have also got a place in the team.
These players got a chance
Most of the players who participated in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 have got a chance in the Afghanistan team. These also include players like Noor Ali Zadran, Zubaid Akbari, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Syed Ahmed Shirzad and Shahidullah Kamal. Apart from this, experienced players like Karim Jannat, Farid Ahmed Malik, Qais Ahmed have also got a chance in the team. Wafiullah Tarakhil, who performed well in Under-19, has also got a place. He did wonders for Afghanistan Under-19 during the home try series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Selector Asadullah Khan said that our aim is to provide many opportunities to these players to showcase their abilities on the international stage. This event of Asia Games is a good opportunity for them to perform well and also move forward for cricket. Our buildup to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has already begun and we are working to build a strong squad of players for that event.
Men’s cricket matches in the Asian Games 2023 will be played from September 27. After this, quarter-final matches will be played on October 3 and 4 and semi-final matches will be played on October 6. Whereas, the final match will be held on 7th October.
