To Sanjauli Mosque of Shimla
Shimla: The mosque in Sanjauli in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is completely illegal and all four buildings of the mosque will be broken. The Commissioner Court of Shimla Municipal Corporation, while giving the final verdict, considered the entire mosque illegal and directed to break all the floors. The court described the mosque of Sanjauli as an ‘illegal structure’. On the dispute that has been going on for 15 years, the court ruled and said that the Waqf Board has no right on the land. It is believed that after the court order, the Municipal Corporation may soon take a bulldozer action on the mosque.
Order to demolish the entire mosque
The Municipal Corporation (MC) Court has declared the entire structure of this mosque illegal and ordered it to be demolished. The MC Court has clearly stated that the mosque was constructed without any legitimate permission, NOC and Section Map.
Corporation court gave final decision
According to the court order, the ground floor and first floor of the mosque are now considered illegal, whereas earlier on 5 October 2024, the order to demolish the second, third and fourth floor had already been issued. Advocate Jagat Pal, who is advocating on behalf of the local people, said that under the direction of the High Court, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner had to settle the matter within six weeks and today’s decision is part of the same process.
Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board lawyers could not present papers
The court has also admitted that the Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board has not been able to prove in the last 15 years that it has any ownership on the disputed land. Not only this, the board did not take the tax NOC from the Municipal Corporation nor was any valid documents presented in the court. The court also clarified that the old structure was also demolished without permission. After this, new construction was done illegally on this land, which was an open violation of the sections of the Municipal Corporation Act.
Explain that members of Hindu organizations gathered in the dhli area of Shimla and demonstrated against the illegal construction of the mosque in Sanjauli area. There was a lot of demonstration on this matter.
