Lawyers are protesting against appointment in Allahabad High Court
Prayagraj: Allahabad High Court lawyers have gone on strike from today against Justice Yashwant Verma’s appointment in Allahabad High Court. The lawyers have demonstrated before the High Court. The lawyers have protested against the transfer of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma to the Allahabad High Court.
Supreme Court Collegium recommended to send Allahabad High Court
The Supreme Court Collegium held a meeting on Monday regarding Justice Yashwant Verma. After this meeting, the collegium supported the decision to send Justice Yashwant Verma to Allahabad High Court. However, after the meeting of the General Body of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, an appeal was made to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that Justice Yashwant Verma should not be sent to Allahabad High Court. Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court has been accused of corruption.
On Monday, the General Body of Allahabad High Court Bar Association was held in the library hall. 11 proposals were passed in this meeting. The High Court Bar Association passed the proposal and demanded from the CJI that Justice Yashwant Verma should not be transferred to Allahabad High Court. The Bar Association had said that the Allahabad High Court is not a dumping ground. Along with this, the Bar Association had demanded the central government and CJI to bring impeachment against Justice Yashwant Verma.
