The demand for the removal of the grave of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Maharashtra has been gained for some time. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said in a statement on Sunday that no solution would be found by removing Aurangzeb’s grave. He suggested that a large monument of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj should be built in Sambhaji Nagar.
Athawale said in a conversation with reporters in Dehradun, “Nothing will be achieved by removing Aurangzeb’s grave.
“Don’t add ties with Muslim Aurangzeb”
He said, “We should pursue the ideology of Sambhaji Maharaj, but at the same time it is also necessary to maintain peace in the country.” Athawale appealed to the Muslims not to add their ties with Aurangzeb. He said, “I request Muslims not to add any relation with Aurangzeb. The Muslims here were Hindus and they are not Aurangzeb’s children. They have no connection with them.” On this occasion, the Union Minister had come to Dehradun for a review meeting of the central schemes run by the Social Welfare Department in the state.
Why demand to remove Aurangzeb’s grave?
Actually, the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb ruled from 1658 to 1707 AD. The methods of Aurangzeb’s rule and empire expansion have been under controversy. After the release of the film ‘Chhava’, this controversy and speed caught up. Since then, political controversy over Aurangzeb’s tomb has been going on. There is a demand to remove the tomb of Aurangzeb built in Khuldabad located near Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) in Maharashtra. Violence erupted in Nagpur, in which dozens of vehicles were burnt. The police pelted stones, in which many people were injured. More than 100 accused have been arrested in this case.
