Shardul Thakur: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has started. IPL issued a statement stating that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has included Shardul Thakur in place of left -arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan, who has been eliminated from the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injury. Experienced all -rounder Thakur has been signed by his reserve price from the registered available player Pool (RAPP) at Rs 2 crore. Shardul, who performs the best in all three formats for India, has a good experience of IPL. The LSG will start its IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Monday, 24 March.
Unsold was in mega auction
Shardul Thakur has been part of the IPL since 2015 and has represented 5 teams so far. He played for Chennai Super Kings last season and took only 5 wickets in 9 matches. He was then released by Chennai before the mega auction last year. In the mega auction, no team bid Shardul and he remained unsold. Now LSG has associated him with the debut of IPL. He has taken 94 wickets in 95 matches of IPL. His best performance is 4 wickets for 36 runs. This season, he will try to complete 100 wickets in the IPL by performing well for his team.
Essex was tied up
Thakur, who scored 505 runs in 9 matches and 35 wickets in 9 matches in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai after foot surgery, had tied up with Essex last month. However, Thakur had already warned Essex that if an IPL franchise needs a replacement, he would accept this offer. Now Essex has suffered a major setback by the Indian bowler joining LSG.
