The Telangana Police has recently initiated action against allegations of promoting illegal betting apps on several big names of Tollywood industry and social media celebrities. In this case, a case has been registered against 25 people including South Indian cinema’s famous actor Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, Pranita, Nidhi Aggarwal and Ananya Nagela. The case has been registered under various sections of Telangana Gaming Act and IT Act.

Rana Daggubati’s team has issued a statement reacting to these allegations. The team clarified that Rana never promoted illegal betting apps. The statement said that Rana was the brand ambassador of skill-based sports by 2017, but after that his contract was over. His support was limited to only areas where online skill-based sports were legally allowed. The team also insisted that Rana’s legal advisors carefully investigate before finalizing any deal.

The case started when businessman PM Phanindra Sarma lodged a complaint at Miyapur police station in Hyderabad. Sarma claimed that many people were attracted to invest in gambling apps promoted by social media celebrities. He alleged that through these apps people were cheated on a large scale and their money was submerged.

The Telangana Police has started an investigation by taking the matter seriously. According to the police, the case has been registered under various sections of Telangana Gaming Act and IT Act. The police also clarified that if a celebrity has promoted illegal activities, strict action will be taken against them.
