New Delhi: Famous litterateur Vinod Kumar Shukla has been announced to award the 59th Jnanpith Award for the year 2024. Indian Jnanpith gave this information in a statement on Saturday. According to the statement, Shukla has been selected for this honor for his unique contribution, creativity and specific writing style in Hindi literature. He is the 12th Hindi litterateur, who is being awarded this award. Shukla is the first writer of Chhattisgarh state to be awarded this honor. Shukla expressed happiness over the announcement of giving him the Jnanpith Award and said that he never felt that the award would be received.

Asked how he sees the announcement of honoring the Jnanpith Award, Shukla said, “This is a great award of India, literature.” It is a pleasure for me to get such a big award. “Shukla said,” I never felt that I would get this award. I do not pay attention to the award. Others give me attention. Others used to say to me, in discussion, in conversation, now you should get Jnanpith Award, I could not answer them in hesitation. ”

Nice to write for children

He said that he is also devoted to writing even in this age. He said, “I don’t dare to write a lot. I think I should complete whatever work I do at this age. I write small and small for children and I have got a simple basis that I keep doing such small things. I love writing for children. ”According to the statement, this decision was taken in the meeting of the Pravar Parishad chaired by the famous storyteller and Jnanpith Award, Pravara Parishad. Madhav Kaushik, Damodar Mavjo, Prabha Verma and Dr. Anamika, Dr. A. Krishna Rao, Prafulla Shildar, Janaki Prasad Sharma and Jnanpith director Madhusudan Anand were included.

The film was made on the novel

The first poem of writer, poet and novelist Shukla (88 years) was published in 1971 under the title ‘Almost Jaihind’. His major novels include ‘Servant’s shirt’, ‘a window in the wall’ and ‘Khilga to dekhega’. Famous filmmaker Mani Kaul made a film with the same name in 1999 on Shukla’s novel ‘Service Ki Kameez’. His writing is known for simple language, deep sensitivity and unique style. He is mainly famous for his experimental writing in Hindi literature.

What is Jnanpith Award?

Shukla has also been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award and other prestigious honors. The Jnanpith Award is the highest literary honor in the country, which is awarded to the creators who have creating excellent literature in Indian languages. Under this award, an amount of Rs 11 lakh, Bronze statue of Vagdevi and citation is provided. The Jnanpith Award, established in the year 1961, was the first Malayalam Kavi G. Shankar Kurup was given to his poetry collection ‘Odakuzhal’ in 1965. (Language)
