Consumption of rapidly growing internet data in India.
The access of smartphones in India is increasing rapidly. The direct impact of increasing access to smartphone is visible on data consumption. India is continuously moving forward in the consumption of the Internet. Consumption of average monthly data per user in India has now increased by more than 2024. Average monthly data consumption per user has now increased to 27.5GB.
The latest report of user monthly data consumption per user of the Internet shows a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.5% in the last five years. 5G technology and fixed wireless service contribute to this rapid growth in data consumption. These services are rapidly increasing the use of data at both residential and commercial places.
Traffic increased three times in India
According to Nokia’s Mobile Broadband Index (MBIIT) report, the traffic of 5G data in India has now increased almost three times. The report also stated that by the first quarter of 2026, the consumption of 5G data in the country will be more than 4G. According to the report, the highest increase in the use of 5G data is being seen in B and C category circles. These days, consumption of internet data in circles has increased at 3.4 times and 3.2 times the speed respectively.
People’s interest increased on 5G
Mbit’s report stated that internet data consumption has increased rapidly after 5G connectivity access in metro cities. The use of 5G internet data in metro cities has now reached 43% of the total mobile broadband data. You will be surprised to know that in the year 2023 it was only 20%. 4G data growth is also declining rapidly in these circles, it is clear that users are showing more interest towards 5G connectivity.
The report also stated that the use of 5G devices in the country is also increasing rapidly. The number of active 5G devices in the year 2024 has now doubled the figure of 27.1 crore. In the coming time, this number is likely to grow at even greater speed. By the end of 2025, about 90% of smartphones will support 5G network.
