Defense Acquisition Council approves purchase proposals of 54 thousand crores
The Ministry of Defense on Thursday gave initial approval to military modernization proposals of over Rs 54,000 crore, including BrahMos missiles and six ‘eye’ air prior warnings and controls (AW&C) aircraft to advanced Russian engines for T-90 tanks, naval aircraft piercing missiles and torpedo. The Defense Council has approved the purchase of 1350 HP engine to upgrade the current 1 thousand SP engine for T90 tanks for the Indian Army. This will increase the battlefield mobility of these tanks, especially in high altitude areas, T90 tanks will be able to perform better.
Approval for the purchase of Torpedo for Navy
At the same time, if we talk about the Indian Navy, then the DAC has approved AON for the purchase of Varunastra Torpedo (fighter). The Varunastra Torpedo has been developed by the Naval Science and Technology Laboratory, an indigenous torpedo, a submarine anti -submarine torpedo that is launched by the ship. The inclusion of the additional amount of this torpedo will increase the capacity of the Navy against enemies’ submarine hazards. At the same time, the purchase of arms for the Indian Air Force has also been approved by the council.

For the Indian Air Force, DAC has approved the purchase of Airborn Early Warning and Control (AW&C) aircraft system.
