Prayagraj’s cloth tearing Holi

Every year there is a unique cloth tearing Holi in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandad and Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhishek Bharti also enjoyed the cloth fad Holi. This Holi took place outside the Kotwali located near the famous Loknath intersection of the city.

Clothes are torn by each other

DCP (city) Abhishek Bharti, who came to see the cloth with Abhishek Bharti, told PTI, “I saw a Holi for the first time, in which everyone gets drenched in the color of fun and tears each other’s clothes.” He told that there was a special thing in this Holi that no one is hurt by tearing clothes and everyone dances and dancing in a shower of color and water.

After Holi is over, clothes are seen hanging in wires

Kuldeep Yadav, who runs a jewelery shop at Loknath intersection, said that not only the Chowk, but people from all over the city come to attend the cloth tearing Holi. After playing Holi, he goes back home in a semi -haunted situation. He told that after the end of Holi, you will see clothes hanging on electric wires everywhere and the number of clothes tells how much people have played Holi.

This tradition has been going on since 1957

The youth and traders of the Chowk have prepared for weeks for this event. Senior philanthropist Abhay Awasthi says that the tradition of fad Holi of Chowk started in 1957 during the time of Chunnan Guru, MLA from the southern region of the city.

When the dhoti-kurta was torn in Holi for the first time

It is said that Congress leader Sunit Vyasji once came to meet Holi with Chunnan Guru wearing a dhoti-kurta. Awasthi told that in the excitement of Holi, the disciples of Chunnan Guru tear Vyasji’s dhoti-kurta and hanged it on the electric wire. After this, Vyasji’s supporters also torn Guru’s dhoti and bundi and hanged it on the wire. He told that the two leaders wrapped the banana leaf and returned to their respective homes.
