The minister said this about Holi

Birbaha Hansda said that we (in Santiniketan) have not imposed a ban on Holi. We requested people to keep the environment safe. When people play Holi, it contains chemicals that can harm trees. He said that the opposition should not do politics on this. Officials have expressed concern that the greenery of the area suffers possible.

The minister said that I do not know about the notice banning Holi. I got this information from the media. We have not banned Holi, but only requested. The TMC leader said that the government has called upon the people to protect the environment, as chemical -rich colors can damage trees.

BJP leader claimed a ban on Holi in Santiniketan

On Thursday, the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the Holi celebrations have been banned by the Mamata Banerjee -led government in Santiniketan’s Sonjhuri Haat, which is a popular market. Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday criticized Mamata Banerjee -led TMC government for banning the Holi function at Sonajuri Haat in Santiniketan and made serious allegations against the police.

He said that the banner in the area states that this area is a protected forest area, where playing Holi, car parking, videography and flying drones are prohibited. Talking to the media, the officer said that the ban is not limited to an area and in addition to Birbhum, the SP has ordered that the Holi ceremony in Santiniketan should end by 10 am due to Friday.
