Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive heavy rains and snowfall by Sunday. The local Meteorological Department gave this information on Thursday. The Meteorological Department has also issued a ‘yellow’ alert of heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning at different places in Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts on Saturday and Sunday. There is a possibility of heavy rains in Mandi on Sunday and heavy snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti on Saturday.

Possibility of snowfall in high areas

The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate snow and rain in the state capital Shimla in the tourist destinations Manali, Narkanda, Kufri, Solang Valley, Sissu and the surrounding areas. The department said that from Thursday to Sunday, there is a possibility of snowfall in most places in the high areas of Kinnaur and Kangra, Chamba and Kullu districts. During the same period, ten districts Sirmaur, Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Kangra, Chamba and Kullu may receive light to moderate rains in many places with thunderstorms and brightness.

Advice to follow advisory

Since the roads can be slippery due to rain and snowfall, visibility may decrease, traffic jams and accidents may occur and essential services may also be affected, the Meteorological Department has advised people to limit external activities, carefully drive, take adequate security measures and follow the administration’s advisory.

Snow in Gondla, rain in third

The weather in the state generally drought was usually drought from Wednesday evening, although Gondla received a little snow and Tisi received five mm of rain. Saluni received 3.3 mm of rain. Pandoh, Sangla, Bhuntar, Dalhousie and Kalpa also received less than a mm light rain. No significant change in minimum and maximum temperature was seen.
