New Zealand Team
The Champions Trophy 2025 starts from February 19 and the first match of the tournament will be played between New Zealand and Pakistan. Just before this match, the Kiwi team has suffered a major setback. New Zealand’s veteran fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, while Kyle Jaymison has been replaced in the team.
Ferguson injured during an unofficial practice match against Afghanistan
Significantly, Ferguson had his right leg pain while bowling in an unofficial practice match against Afghanistan in Karachi on Sunday. After that some of his tests were done in which it was found that he would no longer be fit for the Champions Trophy, due to which he was now dropped from the team. Jamison, who was included in the team in his place, will leave for Pakistan this evening.
Kiwi team head coach made a big statement about Ferguson
On the Locky Ferguson, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said that it was bad news for Ferguson and the team. We are really disappointed with being out of the locket. Lockie is an important part of the bowling group and has experience playing in such a big tournament and we know how keen he was to represent New Zealand even in this Champions Trophy. We wish him to be healthy and hope that he will return soon.
Regarding Jamison, Gary Stead said that in view of his bowling skill, we have chosen him as a replacement of Ferguson. He said that Jamison brings speed and extra bounce in his bowling, which will give him a lot of benefit under the circumstances of Pakistan. Due to his skill, he can be very impressive in this tournament.

Mitchell Santner (Captain), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Deril Mitchell, Will O’Rureke, Glenn Philips, Rachin Ravindra, Jacob Dafi, Nathan Smith, Ken Williamson, Will Young, Kail Zaimison.
