Ruckus over the death of a Nepali student in engineering college.
A BTech third year student at a private engineering college in Odisha has allegedly committed suicide in her hostel. Since this incident, there has been an atmosphere of tension in the institute. According to the information, the deceased girl is a resident of Nepal. This whole matter is being reported from the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT). According to the police, the girl’s brother lodged a complaint and said that her sister committed suicide by hanging from the noose in her hostel room on Sunday.
What did the college tell?
According to PTI, KIIT has said- “A Nepal student studying in BTech third year committed suicide in the hostel yesterday. It is said that the student loved another student studying in KIIT itself.” The police was immediately informed about this incident. DCP Pinak Mishra of Bhubaneswar said- “We have registered a case against a student at the Infosity police station for abetment of suicide. The accused student is in police custody and is being questioned. Police have seized the girl’s mobile phone, laptop and other gadgets. We are investigating the case. ”The DCP has appealed to the students not to maintain peace and not take the law into their own hands.
Nepal students sent home
KIIT has informed that there was little tension among the students of Nepal since the incident. The authorities have then interacted with angry foreign students. The institute said- “Keeping in mind the situation, Nepal students have been sent to their homes. The situation is currently peaceful.” According to the information, many students of Nepal gathered in the premises of the institute on Sunday night and demanded justice while performing. According to PTI, two buses filled with Nepali students reached Cuttack railway station on Monday.
PM KP Oli tweeted
Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has tweeted about the incident at KIIT. He said- “Our Embassy in New Delhi has sent two officers for counseling of Nepali students affected in Odisha. Along with this, arrangements have been made to ensure that students have either their hostels on their convenience basis. I have the option to stay or return home. ” (input language)
