DSP Balram Nayak of Balasore dies in road accident
A horrific road accident occurred on Sunday at Chandpur Chowk in Jajpur district of Odisha. Balasore Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Balram Nayak and his relative Krishna Chandra Nayak died in this accident. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Balram Nayak and his relatives were returning to Panikoili from Ghatgaon in Keonjhar district.
How did the accident happen?
As soon as he reached Chandpur Chowk, a high speed truck hit his car strongly. The collision was so tremendous that both were seriously injured. Local people immediately reached the spot and took them to the Jajpur Headquarters Hospital after giving first aid to both. However, unfortunately on reaching the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Returning from ancestral place
Police said the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on National Highway 215 under the Panikoili police border. The deceased police officer Balaram Nayak was working as DSP at Jajpur District Police Headquarters, Panikoili. The DSP was returning from his ancestral place in Ghatgaon in Kejhar district to Panikoili, when a high speed truck hit his car near ‘Kripalu Rice Mill’.

Local people rescued both and admitted them to Maharaja Jiti Keshari Medical College and Hospital (MJKMCH) in Jajpur in critical condition, where doctors declared them dead. The police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. After receiving information about the accident, Jajpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Yashpratap Srimal reached the Hospital and took information about the incident. After this, the bodies were sent for postmortem. Police said the search is on to catch the truck driver. The police also said that the causes of the accident and the possible security lapse are being investigated.
