Jayalalithaa’s seized property

A special CBI court in Bengaluru has given an important decision regarding Jayalalithaa’s property. The CBI court on Wednesday issued an order to transfer all the assets of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late J Jayalalithaa to the Tamil Nadu government.

Gold sword and a golden crown

The property seized a day after the order of the Bengaluru court was officially transferred to the state government on Friday. It includes a sword made of gold and a golden crown among the luxurious items that Karnataka officials have entrusted to Tamil Nadu. The items included in the list also include a golden gaddy with peacock shapes on the body.

Documents related to 1,526 acres of land also included

Till now, Karnataka officials had a great treasure for Jayalalithaa’s seized property in their hands. It had documents connected with 27 kg 558 grams of gold jewelery, 1,116 kg silver and 1,526 acres of land. The entire treasure was kept in the treasury of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and was assigned in the presence of the court and government officials.

Jayalalithaa convicted in case of disproportionate assets

Explain that the Karnataka High Court on January 13 rejected a petition by Jayalalithaa’s nephew J Deepak and niece J Deepa, in which she claimed the property as Jayalalithaa’s legal successor. Jayalalithaa was convicted in a case of disproportionate assets.

Property should not be seized after death

The High Court had upheld the decision to confiscate her property despite her death against Jayalalithaa in 2016. His successors had argued that her property should not be confiscated after the case ended against Jayalalithaa. However, the High Court arranged that the apex court maintained the decision of the special court to convict the other accused, so it is valid to confiscate the property.
