Alcoholic CIABC, an organization of beverage manufacturers, on Saturday, has demanded the government to curb the dumping of the imported spirit. Also urged to take strict steps to ensure more market access for domestic products. The Confederation of the Indian alcohol beverage companies said that Indian liquor manufacturers are not against the cut in import duty, although they have demanded a cut in import duty in a phased manner. On February 13, India had reduced the import duty on Borbon Whiskey to 50 percent.

Borbon whiskey is imported from America

Borbon whiskey is mainly imported from the US. The Confederation said in a statement, “The government has urged the government to resolve the concerns of Indian companies and to ensure equal opportunities in the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) negotiations and take strict and effective measures to prevent dumping of imported Spirit. At the same time, it has demanded better international access to Indian alcohol products, which currently have several non-fees restrictions. ” It has also requested the states to withdraw the excise concessions given on imported liquor in view of customs cuts.

Indian liquor manufacturers should protect the interests of manufacturers

CIABC Director General Anant S Iyer said that the government would have to protect the interests of Indian liquor manufacturers while deciding on issues related to customs cuts and other concessions under the FTA. He said that most Indian products are not sold in Western markets due to non-fee barriers imposed by other countries. “We also want this market to give Indian whiskey the same as other global products.”
