Facebook The parent company Meta said on Saturday that India will be associated with the world’s longest maritime cable project ‘Waterworth’, which is expected to be operational by the end of this decade. Meta has announced the ‘Project Waterworth’, which will reach five major continents and will be longer than 50,000 km long. Its length is more than the Earth’s circumference. The project was part of the US-India joint leadership statement, which was released on 13 February after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America.
A Meta spokesman said on Saturday, “Meta is investing in India, which is one of its biggest markets. The world’s longest, most capable and most technically advanced maritime cable project is being brought to connect India, the US and other places. “Sea cables are important for internet operations. These connect cable countries to each other. Local telecom operators connect with sea cables to give their customers internet access.
This investment is important because telecom operators are demanding to invest from large technical companies including Meta to reduce data loads and improve customer experience. The spokesperson said, “Inspired by India’s growing demand for digital services, this investment confirms Meta’s commitment to economic growth, flexible infrastructure and digital inclusion.” This will promote India’s digital landscape and technological innovation. ”
