The country’s government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited i.e. BSNL has come into profit after 17 years. BSNL has earned a net profit of Rs 262 crore in the December quarter. According to PTI news, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gave information about this on Friday. Scindia described it as a significant turn for the state -owned telecommunications company, which has been focused on the expansion of the service offering and customer base. BSNL has recorded improvement in several cases, gaining 14–18 percent increase in mobility, FTTH and leased line service offers.
Customer base also increased in December
According to the news, BSNL’s customer base has also increased to around 9 crore in December, which was 8.4 crores in June. Today is an important day for traveling to telecom sector in BSNL and India. BSNL has registered a profit for the first time in 17 years in the third quarter of FY 2024-25. Last time BSNL recorded a quarterly profit in the year 2007. The net profit in the third quarter of the financial year was around Rs 262 crore.
Customer experience offer better
Revenue of mobility services increased by 15 percent, fiber-to-the-home revenue increased by 18 percent and revenue of leased line services increased by 14 percent compared to the third quarter of the previous year. According to Scindia, BSNL has cut its financial cost and overall expenditure, which has reduced more than Rs 1,800 crore in losses compared to the previous year. With a view to improve customer experience, BSNL has offered National WiFi roaming, BITV – free entertainment for all mobile customers, and IFTV for all FTTH customers, and the first private 5G connectivity for mining.
Losses will be reduced significantly
The Union Minister said that we definitely hope that this year will not only increase revenue at the end of the fourth quarter for the entire financial year, but (see BSNL) expenditure and cost will be kept under control and from last year’s data The deficit will be significantly reduced. In the last four years, BSNL’s EBITDA was doubled from Rs 1,100 crore to about Rs 2,100 crore by FY 23-24.
The Union Minister said that returning to profitability in this quarter is a significant turn for BSNL as it is now moving towards providing 4G services to all its customers across the country. About 75,000 have been installed out of 100,000 towers, about 60,000 have been operational. We hope that all 100,000 towers will be operational by June this year.
