Wholesale price inflation: In January 2025, wholesale inflation has declined. Last month, the wholesale inflation was reduced to 2.31 percent. In January 2025, the inflation rate of primary things came down to 4.69 percent, which was 6.02 percent in December 2024. Meanwhile, the wholesale prices of fuel and electricity declined to 2.78 percent in January, which was 3.79 percent in December last year. Apart from these, the prices of manufactured products increased to 2.51 percent last month, which was 2.14 percent in December.

Along with vegetables, many food items became cheap

According to government data, the inflation rate of food items came down to 5.88 percent in January, compared to 8.47 percent in December 2024. The inflation rate of vegetables declined significantly to 8.35 percent, compared to 28.65 percent in December 2024. Potato inflation remained at a high level at 74.28 percent and onion inflation increased to 28.33 percent in January.

Retail inflation also recorded a decline

Let us tell you that earlier the government had released the latest figures of retail inflation on Wednesday. According to the data, the consumer price index (CPI) -based retail inflation came down to 4.31 percent due to a fall in the prices of food items in January 2025. This is the lowest level of the last 5 months for retail inflation. In December 2024, retail inflation was recorded at 5.22 percent. In addition, the food inflation also declined to 6.02 percent, which was 8.39 percent in December 2024.
