This is the reason that the artist of every region of art definitely dreams of becoming a hero. The names of artists like singer Himesh Reshammiya to Diljit Dosanjh are examples of this. But there is also a hero in Bollywood who came first in films and flopped. After this, this flop hero played the sound and the standup jumped into the world of comedy. In the standup comedy, this hero not only earned a name but also played his art from America to Europe. Childhood spent in Nigeria
In India, when the number of people understanding the standup comedy was negligible and the standup comedians like Zakir Khan to Time Raina were learning this art, then Veer Das did wonders in this genre. Veer Das was born on 31 May 1979 in Dehradun city of Uttarakhand. But when Veer Das’s father used to work in Nigeria, the whole family started living here. Veeradas completed his schooling in Indian language in Lagos city here. He moved to America for its graduation. Here Veer Das graduated in Economics from NOM College. After this, Veer Das chased his acting passion and participated in a course of theater and perfaming arts from a college in Russia’s capital Moscow. Veer’s interest in awakened acting from here took him to Howard University where he learned methods for 6 months. After this Veer Das returned to India and started struggling in the dream city of Mumbai. Veer Das used to do standup comedy shows here in his early days. But in the 2000s, the number of standup comedy listening and understanding was very low in India.
Was started a career as a TV host
Veer Das started his career as a TV host to pursue his acting and hosted the show ‘All lines of this route’. With this, Veer made his debut with the 2006 film Namaste London. After this film, Veer Das became a hero and started getting lead roles. Veer also acted in films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Durmanest Company’. In the 2011 film ‘Delhi Belly’, Veer Das played the lead role with Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan. After this, Veer Das also played the lead role in the 2013 film ‘Go Goa Gone’. However, the fate of Veer Das did not shine at the box office and his films flopped. Even after doing more than 30 films and TV serials in his career, Veer Das could not become a hit hero and had to be satisfied with side rolls.
Travel from flop hero to hit standup comedian
Veer Das may be doing films in the 2010s, but it was not having any significant impact at the box office. After this, Veer Das resorted to standup comedy and started it before all comedians including Zakir Khan. Even though Veer Das’s standup comedy has not been recognized in India, people became very happy when their shows took place in America. Also, Veer Das was seen in standup comedy from America to Europe. Veer Das focused on the standup comedy and continued to do shows. Today Veer Das is counted among the world’s best standup comedians. Veer Das was India’s first standup comedian to do his show on Netflix.

In the last 2 years ago, in 2023, Veer Das has made a ruckus all over the world by winning the International Amy Awards. Veer Das is the first standup comedian in India to have been awarded this International Award for his best comedy. Veer Das is now counted among the best standup comedians all over the world. Veer Das also wrote an emotional note after winning the Amy Award. In which he told that today I used to wash utensils where I stand today. The journey from washing utensils to winning Amy Awards has been very special. Veer Das is now one of the most superhit standup comedians in India.
