Ranji Trophy
Big news has come out about India’s prestigious domestic cricket tournament Ranji Trophy. All 8 teams have been fixed for the quarter-final round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. All quarter -finals will be played for five days between 8 and 12 February. Meanwhile, there has been a sudden change in the venue of a quarter -final match. The venue of the quarter -final match to be played between Mumbai and Haryana has been changed. However, the reason behind this has not been revealed yet.
The quarter -final match of the Ranji Trophy between defending champions Mumbai and Haryana was to be played in Lahli, Rohtak, but now the match will be played at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. There is no reason for the change in the site of the match between Mumbai and Haryana, but it is learned that the game could be affected due to mist in the morning in North India and hence the decision was taken.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ajinkya Naik told PTI on Wednesday that we have received information from BCCI that our quarter -finals against Haryana will be played at Eden Gardens. The other three quarter -finals will be played in Rajkot (Saurashtra vs Gujarat), Nagpur (Vidarbha vs Tamil Nadu) and Pune (Jammu and Kashmir vs Kerala).
Surya and Shivam Dubey became part of the team
In the quarter -finals from Mumbai, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav and all -rounder Shivam Dubey will be seen playing against Haryana. Both have been included in the 18 -member team of Mumbai. Both Suryakumar and Dubey were part of the Indian team in the recently ended five -match T20 series against England. Both of them have played one match each for 42-time champion Mumbai in the current season of Ranji Trophy. Mumbai defeated Meghalaya by an innings and 456 runs to advance to the quarter -finals. Suryakumar played in the Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra for Mumbai in October last year, while Dubey was part of the match played against Jammu and Kashmir which included India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
