Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Monday that Rs 7,306 crore has been allocated in the Union Budget 2025-26 to improve and expand the infrastructure of Railways in Jharkhand. Talking to the media through video conferencing, Vaishnav said that in the last 10 years, 1,311 km of new tracks have been laid in Jharkhand, which is more than the entire rail network of the United Arab Emirates.

He also informed that a total of 57 stations are being developed under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ in the state, which will cost Rs 2,314 crore. According to the Railway Minister, the total investment for Railways in Jharkhand is around Rs 60,000 crore, which will play an important role in the development of the state.
The official release also said that since 2014, 943 km rail route has been electrified in Jharkhand and now the state has acquired 100 percent electrification. It said that 12 Vande Bharat trains covering 14 districts in Jharkhand run.
Information about investment in Maharashtra Railway
At the same time, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also gave information about Maharashtra Railway. He said that an allocation of Rs 23,778 crore has been made for Maharashtra, which is 20 times more than the allocation made during the UPA government. Ashwini Vaishnav said that 132 railway stations are being renovated under the ‘Amrit Bharat Yojana’ in Maharashtra. He informed that 2,105 km of new railway tracks have been built in Maharashtra so far, which will make the state railway network stronger. He informed that Rs 15,000 crore has also been invested for Mumbai suburban railway. Apart from this, new tracks will be laid at a cost of Rs 700 to 800 crore to make Mumbai’s railway network even better. (language input)
