GST collection in January 2025: The GST collection increased by 12.3 percent to Rs 1.96 lakh crore in January 2025 due to the rise in domestic economic activities in the country. Along with presenting the country’s budget on Saturday, the government also released data related to GST collection. The collection increased by 10.4 percent to Rs 1.47 lakh crore from the sale of goods and services at domestic level in GST collection. The tax collection increased by 19.8 percent to Rs 48,382 crore due to imported things. The total GST collection in January stood at Rs 1,95,506 crore, which is an increase of 12.3 percent annually.
In January 2025, department released a refund of Rs 23,853 crore
The GST department released a refund of Rs 23,853 crore in the first month of the year, which is 24 percent more. After adjusting the refund, the total net GST revenue increased by 10.9 percent to Rs 1.72 lakh crore. KPMG’s indirect tax head and partner Abhishek Jain said that the continuous increase in GST collection indicates a boom in economic growth and tax compliance between business. Abhishek Jain said, “Despite more refunds, the increase in the collection is a big thing in itself, which indicates better efficiency in the refund processing of the GST department. This business is an encouraging step towards ease. ”
GST collection increased by 10-20 percent in states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana
Deloite India partner M.S. Mani said that GST collection has increased by 10 to 20 percent in big states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, it is a matter of concern for GST officials that GST collection has increased by only 5 to 9 percent in big states like Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and West Bengal.
