Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke of establishing BTN during the budget speech. He said that a digital public infrastructure (DPI) ‘Bharat Trade Net’ will be established for international trade. Document verification can be done easily through Bharat Trade Net. The Finance Minister said that BTN would be made in accordance with international standards. International trade will be easier with the arrival of BTN.

Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is a group of shared digital systems, which enables people to reach public and private services. It is a major component of the digital government and is essential for participation in society.

Economic survey was also mentioned

On 31 January, the Economic Survey was revealed in 2025 that the government is making efforts for DPI, especially as a major driver of India’s digital change. In the Economic Survey, digital infrastructure has been described as an important column for economic development at both domestic and global south levels.

The survey underlines the widespread success of India’s DPI ecosystem. This includes Aadhaar, UPI, Digeelocker and ONDC. This has led to a transparent governance system, subsidized leakage has decreased and billions of dollars startups have been created. It also highlights India’s efforts to export DPI models to emerging economies, which is helping countries such as the National Payment Corporation (NPCI) Namibia and Peru establish real -time payment system.
