Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced 6 new schemes to promote the agricultural sector. In the budget, the loan limit on Kisan Credit Card (KCC) has been increased from Rs five lakh to seven lakh rupees. The Finance Minister said that his goal is to increase crop production in the country. While presenting his eighth budget in Parliament, Sitharaman described agriculture as the ‘first engine of development’ and proposed the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. It is a major program of the government, aimed to be low productivity, low -crop -taking sectors (locations where less or only one crop is replaced) and 100 districts taking loans less than average parameters of taking loans. Makhana board will be formed in Bihar

A dedicated Makhana Board will be established to improve the production, processing and marketing of Makhana region of Bihar. The board will organize farmers in FPOs and provide training assistance to ensure access to the benefits of government scheme.

KCC will get more loans

It has been proposed to increase the limit of this short -term loan subsidized for 7.7 crore farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers from Rs 3 lakh to Rs five lakh.

New research ecosystem

Five year cotton mission

The five-year cotton mission will work on improving productivity and promoting ‘Extra-Long Staple’ cotton varieties, supporting India’s integrated 5-F view for the textile sector. Urea plant will be held in Assam

Other announcements also include a new urea plant plan in the name of Assam, which has an annual capacity of 12.7 lakh tonnes. Apart from this, it has been announced to increase the support to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for the loan operation of the cooperative sector. A comprehensive program will be implemented to ensure production, supply chains, processing and profitable prices for farmers who grow vegetables, fruits and Shri food. This initiative will be implemented in partnership with the states, which will include farmer-producing organizations and cooperative societies through the appropriate institutional mechanisms.
