In Sitapur, Congress MP Rakesh Rathore was arrested by the police.
Sitapur: Congress MP Rakesh Rathore was arrested by the police on Thursday from his residence. The arrest took place when he was addressing a press conference. Rathore is accused of raping a woman and her bail plea was rejected by the High Court. Kotwali Nagar police arrested Rathore from his residence. At that time, he was making a statement in front of the press on the matter. In the middle of the press conference, the police reached there and took Rathore with them. Explain that the High Court on Wednesday rejected Rathore’s anticipatory bail plea after hearing the arguments of the lawyers.
What did the lawyers argue in the court?
Let me tell you that before this, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Congress MP Rakesh Rathore accused of rape. The single member bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan gave this order after hearing an anticipatory bail plea filed by Congress MP Rakesh Rathore from Sitapur. The advocate, appearing for the petitioner, told the court that the complainant had filed the case after 4 years and his client has been falsely implicated in the trial. The advocate appearing on behalf of the complainant argued that Congress MP Rakesh Rathore is a domineering leader, due to which his client registered the case late.
Time was asked for surrender
Rathore’s lawyer sought time from the court for surrender, on which the court asked the MP to surrender in the sessions court within two weeks. Rathore had earlier filed an anticipatory bail petition in Sitapur’s Secial Court, which was rejected. The police had registered a case against Rathore on January 17 after a woman’s complaint. The woman had alleged in her complaint to the police that Rathore has been sexually abusing her for the last 4 years by pretending to be married.
