Supriya Sule
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday demanded an apology from party MP Supriya Sule. The party alleges that he spread hatred in the party by fielding Yugendra Pawar against his uncle and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Baramati assembly seat. NCP spokesperson Amol Mitkari said Supriya Sule should apologize just like Ajit Pawar had expressed regret for fielding his wife Sunetra in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar defeated his nephew Yugendra Pawar by a huge margin in the Baramati Assembly elections. Ajit Pawar contested from this seat for the 8th time and secured 1,81,132 votes, while Yugendra Pawar got 80,233 votes. In this way Ajit Pawar defeated his younger brother’s son Yugendra by a margin of 1,00,899 votes.
Mitkari’s target on Congress
Mitkari also said that NCP-SP state president Jayant Patil was so disappointed with the election results that he did not attend the ceremony to collect the certificate from the officials. He also stressed the need for introspection by Congress party leaders regarding the results of Maharashtra Assembly elections. Mitkari said this should be a time of introspection for senior Congress leaders Balasaheb Thorat, Dheeraj Deshmukh and Yashomati Thakur.
The NCP leader said that Congress leaders will get time to introspect for five years. Describing the victory of Congress leader Nana Patole in the elections as surprising, he said that the state president of the party was dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister but won by a small margin.
