The decision was confirmed in a statement sent by AR Rahman’s lawyer Vandana Shah. They have three children from their 29-year marriage, Khatija, Rahima and Amin. However, soon after the divorce was announced, Rehman ran into several controversies. After which he issued a legal notice and instructed those spreading rumors to remove all controversial content from social media within 24 hours. Now musician AR Rahman’s ex-wife Saira Banu has also issued her new statement in this matter.

This is the reason why I am getting a divorce because of living like this for a long time. He is the best person in the world. Due to my health problem I could not go to Chennai. Saira Banu said, I am not in Chennai so people are wondering where Saira is. I am undergoing treatment here.

Saira called her AR Rahman ‘the best man in the world’ and requested privacy for both of them during this difficult time. She said that Rehman and she are still in love and their decision was taken with 100 percent mutual consent. ‘He is a good person. Let them be as they are. I love them very much. There is no need to tarnish his name.

Saira Banu said that her lawyer has announced that they are going to end their 29-year-old marriage. Vandana announced, “Saira is facing difficulty in getting a divorce after so many years of marriage. The couple has taken this decision due to their poor emotional condition.”
