india vs pakistan
The Champions Trophy is to be organized in Pakistan next year but till now it is not clear whether the entire tournament will be played on Pakistani soil or a hybrid model will be adopted. The Indian team has already clearly refused to go to Pakistan, due to which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in tension. Meanwhile, big news is coming out regarding the Champions Trophy.
Actually, ICC is going to call an emergency meeting to resolve the Champions Trophy issue. The reason behind organizing this meeting is to reach a mutual consensus between BCCI and PCB regarding the tournament. Now it remains to be seen what outcome comes out of the meeting. ESPNcricinfo has given this information in its report. According to this report, the ICC Board will call an emergency meeting next week to discuss the fate of the 2025 Champions Trophy. This meeting will be held on November 26, whose sole agenda is to build a consensus on whether a hybrid model should be adopted for the tournament or not.
8 teams will participate in the tournament
The ICC Board consists of representatives from the 12 Full Member States, three representatives from the Associates, one independent director as well as the President and CEO of the ICC. The PCB was given the rights to host the eight-team ODI tournament Champions Trophy three years ago in November 2021. Since then, Pakistan Cricket Board is making every effort to organize the tournament in three venues of Pakistan, Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
It is noteworthy that earlier this week, the Indian Blind Cricket Team was forced to withdraw from the T20 Cricket World Cup to be held in Pakistan, because the team could not get approval from the Indian Government to go to Pakistan. Now it has to be seen what decision is taken in the emergency meeting of ICC and whether a mutual consensus is reached between the two boards or not.
