Bhadohi: Zahid Beg, Samajwadi Party MLA from Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, has surrendered in the court. He was wanted in the case of suicide of a minor maid at his residence and trafficking of more than one child. There was a lot of drama during the surrender of the MLA. On one hand, there was a crowd of supporters of the MLA and Samajwadi Party workers in the court, while on the other hand, there was a heated argument between the lawyers and the police. Let us tell you that before this, the MLA’s son Jaim Beg was arrested in the same case.
‘The girl was forced to work’
Let us tell you that after the investigation of two cases registered against the SP MLA and his wife, his son was arrested on Wednesday. They are accused of making a minor girl do bonded labour and instigating the minor to commit suicide. The MLA’s son has also been accused in both the cases. Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan had said, ‘Investigation revealed that the minor girl was forced to work and she had expressed her desire to run away from the MLA’s house before her death. Investigation revealed that the MLA’s son was involved in this case.’
The incident happened on September 8
SP said that Jaim Beg was arrested from Makhdoompur area near Bhadohi-Jaunpur border. A 17-year-old domestic help working at MLA Zahid Beg’s residence committed suicide by hanging herself in the MLA’s house on the night of 8 September. In this case, the police had registered a case against the MLA and his wife for bonded labour, harassment and abetment to suicide. After this incident, 17-year-old domestic help Nazia was freed from their house.
Labor department also started action
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit has started investigating the matter. Based on the investigation, a case has been registered against Zahid Beg and his wife Seema Beg under Section 108 of the Bonded Labor System (Prohibition) Act. The Labor Department has also started action against the MLA and his wife on Friday.
