Kashmiri farmer gave a gift to PM Modi

The story of the phiran worn by PM Narendra Modi on his visit to Kashmir today is heart touching. Actually phiran is a type of dress which is worn over clothes like a jacket which protects from cold which is knee long. The story of this phiran is interesting, which was gifted to PM Narendra Modi by a Kashmiri farmer Irshad. Irshad Hussain Naiku, a farm labourer from Anantnag, dreamt of meeting PM Modi in the year 2013. Despite his financial constraints, the Kashmiri farmer started saving money to buy a gift for PM Modi. After saving for a few years he thought of different things which he could gift to the PM. Finally he decided to make the traditional dress “phiran” for the Prime Minister.

“Firan” made for PM Modi

After this, he carefully chose the cloth, but got confused because he did not know the body size of PM Modi. He did not know what size clothes the Prime Minister wears. Then he felt that his father’s body was very similar to the Prime Minister. So he took his father to the tailor for measurements and told how he wanted it to be made. When the cloth was ready, he started his journey from Anantnag to Delhi to deliver it. After this, he reached the gate of the Prime Minister’s residence. The security arrangements there were such that he could not go inside. So he decided to return to Kashmir and send the cloth through courier.

A call came from the PMO

A few days later, he received an unexpected call. The person on the phone asked, “You came to the Prime Minister’s residence, right? Irshad had sent the gift, which had a letter attached with his full address and phone number. Actually this call was from the Prime Minister’s Office. The Prime Minister’s Office official took detailed information from him and told, the Prime Minister is wearing the gift you sent him today. He is currently in Kashmir and is addressing a rally in Srinagar, in which he is wearing the pheran sent by you. When Irshad got this call, he was in his fields and he could not believe it. The Prime Minister was wearing the gift he had sent. He was very happy and went to his home and asked a friend for information about the program online.
