Engineer Rashid and Amritpal Singh
Amritpal Singh, lodged in Dibrugarh jail of Assam and Engineer Rashid, lodged in Tihar jail of Delhi, reached the Parliament House on Friday and took oath as MPs. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla administered the oath of membership of Parliament to both the newly elected MPs in his chamber. Amritpal Singh, lodged in Dibrugarh jail of Assam, has won the election from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat of Punjab, and Engineer Rashid, lodged in Tihar jail of Delhi, has won the election from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir.
The new MP has to take oath within 60 days
Let us tell you that during the first session of the recently concluded 18th Lok Sabha, 539 out of 542 newly elected MPs took oath as members of Parliament. However, Amritpal Singh and Engineer Rashid could not take oath during the session due to being in jail. The new MP has to take oath within 60 days or else his membership can be lost.
Rashid got 2 hours parole and Amritpal got 4 days parole
Rashid has been given two hours parole from Delhi’s Tihar Jail to take oath as a member of Lok Sabha. Amritpal Singh has been given four days’ conditional parole. During this time, he will neither give any political statement nor can any video of him be made. Not only this, taking photos of Amritpal Singh is also prohibited. Let us tell you that many cases are registered against Amritpal Singh in Punjab. A case has been registered against Amritpal for attacking Ajnala police station in Amritsar and misbehaving with policemen.
No video or photo of Amritpal is allowed
Amritpal Singh was brought to New Delhi by plane from Dibrugarh. Both of them were sworn in as members in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chamber. No photographs of either of them were taken during the oath taking ceremony. Amritpal has been allowed to meet only his parents, brother and wife. Amritpal is prohibited from going to Punjab. Let us tell you that Amritpal has been given parole on the condition that he will not make any political statement and no video of him can be made and no photograph can be taken.
