5 people arrested from Maharashtra in betting case.
Raipur: The police have achieved great success in the case of online cricket betting through the Mahadev app. Chhattisgarh Police has arrested five people from Maharashtra on charges of betting through the Mahadev app. Apart from this, the police have also seized many items from the accused. The police have seized ATM cards, mobile phones, checkbooks, passbooks and other items. The police have also received information about transactions worth crores of rupees. Police officials gave this information on Thursday.
Five accused arrested
Police officials said that the investigation team of Raipur Police arrested five people from a residential apartment on the outskirts of Pune. Atul Bhagwan Parate (25), a resident of Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Vikrant Rangare (29), Anshul Reddy (28), Devendra Kumar Vishal (30) and Kushal Thakur (26), residents of Durg district of Chhattisgarh have been arrested. He said that the accused Mahadev-Reddy used to work through Anna App. Police officials said that 56 ATM cards, 47 mobile phones, 35 checkbooks, 20 bank passbooks, seven online betting kits, six laptops and some other items have been recovered from the accused.
Information about transactions worth crores
He said that the police have received information from the accused that they had used about 50 accounts of their acquaintances and others on commission basis to move the money earned through online cricket betting racket. Officials said that information about transactions worth crores of rupees has been found in the seized laptops and mobile phones. Officials said that other accused involved in this racket are being searched. Chhattisgarh Police had registered a case regarding Mahadev betting app in 2022. Later, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a money laundering case related to it and started investigation. According to ED, the estimated proceeds of crime in this case is about six thousand crore rupees. (input language)
