This fast is very special especially for married women and one gets fruits if one worships it with proper rituals. Just like Karva Chauth, Vat Savitri fast is also observed without water. Know the rules of Savitri fast
Women who are fasting for the first time after marriage should follow these rules, which are as follows..
1- To observe this fast, newly married women should wear a red sari after taking a bath in the morning and dress up like a bride.
2- In the auspicious time, clean the place near Banyan tree, sprinkle Gangajal and keep Saptdhan in two bamboo baskets.
3- Place the idol of Brahma in the first basket and the picture of Savitri-Satyavan in the second.
4- During the puja, offer water, raw milk at the root of the Banyan tree and apply rice flour paste.
5- Offer worship materials like roli, vermillion, whole rice, betel leaf, betel nut, flowers, fruits, batasha etc.
6- Circumambulate the tree 7 times and wrap it with raw thread or Kalawa. Read the story, after this donate cosmetics, fruits, grains to married women.
7- Vat Savitri fast should be broken by eating 11 soaked gram.

Vat Savitri Vrat, which falls in June, has a different significance in Hinduism in which Vat means Banyan, which is a symbol of immortality. Savitri means the Goddess who brought back the life of her husband Satyavan from the jaws of death, she is a wonderful example of a devoted wife. Brahma resides in the root of the Vat tree, Lord Vishnu in the trunk and Mahadev, the God of Gods, resides in the branches. Apart from this, the branches of the tree, which hang downwards, are called Maa Savitri. The Banyan tree remains firm for years.
