The notification said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on May 26 approved the extension in the service of Army Chief General Manoj C Pandey under 16A (4) of the Army Rules 1954 for a period of one month from the normal age of retirement (31 May) to 30 June.” Before assuming this post in April 2022, he held the post of Deputy Chief of the Army. General Manoj Pandey was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers) in December 1982. Let us inform you that at present there are about 1.2 million soldiers in the Army.
