The final match of IPL 2024 is to be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. This match will be organized at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Sudden rain disrupted Kolkata Knight Riders’ final practice session ahead of the IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Sunrisers Hyderabad had a day off, while Kolkata Knight Riders were scheduled to practice under floodlights in the evening. However, as soon as the players began their warm-up, it started raining, forcing them to go inside. Though the rain was heavy, it didn’t last long.

If we take a look at the weather in Chennai before the final match of IPL 2024, then on May 26, Chennai will be cloudy in the evening. There will be 100 percent cloud cover and hence there will be very less dew, which will once again force the captains to win the toss and bat first. The temperature will be between 34 to 32 degrees Celsius. According to the report of accuweather, the humidity will increase from 61 percent at 7 pm to 68 percent at 11 pm. At the same time, the chance of rain throughout the day is 4%. Which is very low. In such a situation, there is no possibility of rain during the match. However, a day before the match i.e. on May 25, there has been some rain, due to which the KKR team had to cancel their last practice session.
What if the IPL final is washed out due to rain?
In case of rain in the IPL final, a reserve day is set with favorable weather forecast. If the IPL 2024 final match is interrupted due to rain, the result of the match will be determined using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern rule. If the match is completely canceled due to rain, it will be played on Monday. The match will resume from where it was stopped. If rain continues on the reserve day, the winner of IPL 2024 will be determined on the basis of the points table. In that case, Kolkata Knight Riders, who top the points table, will be declared the winner.
