Cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ will wreak havoc, NDRF is on alert

The effect of cyclone Remal has started to be seen in the coastal areas of West Bengal. Keeping the cyclone in mind, the state administration has intensified preparations and the central government is also keeping an eye on it. On Saturday, a discussion was held in this regard between the chief officials of the state. The central government has also discussed the cyclone. A control room has been set up in view of the cyclone, where essential medicines and other things have been stored. Also, fishermen have been advised to return from the sea immediately and not to go to sea till May 27.

Alert issued at ports

Apart from 12 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), five additional teams have been asked to be ready in view of the cyclonic storm. Along with this, Army, Navy and Coast Guards have also been asked to keep rescue and relief teams ready. Meanwhile, advisory has been issued with regular alerts at the ports of Kolkata and Paradip. Let us tell you that the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the coastal districts of Bengal and North Odisha on Sunday-Monday. The department has issued a red alert for the coastal districts of Bengal, South and North 24 Parganas on 26-27 May.

Flights were canceled for 21 hours

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that the cyclonic storm Remal formed in the Bay of Bengal may make landfall between the coasts of Sagardwip and Bangladesh late Sunday night. According to the information, when the cyclone hits the coast, the wind speed is expected to be 110 to 120 km per hour. In view of the cyclonic storm Remal, the flight operations from Kolkata airport have been completely suspended for 21 hours from Sunday afternoon. During this time, the officials said that in view of the cyclonic storm, the flights have been suspended from 12 noon of 26 May to 9 am on 27 May.
