New Delhi: The Election Commission released constituency-wise data on the number of votes cast in the first five phases of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday and said that a false narrative is being created with a malicious intent to disrupt the electoral process. The Commission said that no change is possible in the number of votes cast.

Voting percentage released by Election Commission

Phase 1: 66.14 percent
Phase 2: 66.71 per cent
Phase 3: 65.68 per cent
Phase 4: 69.16 percent
Phase 5: 62.20 per cent

Supreme Court refuses to interfere in this matter

The Election Commission released the data a day after the Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) seeking direction to the Election Commission to upload polling booth-wise voting percentage data on its website.

The Election Commission said it has decided to further expand the format of polling data to include the full number of voters in each parliamentary constituency. Electors are those who are part of the electoral roll. Voters are those who actually vote in the election. Although the Election Commission was releasing the polling percentage, there were requests to make public the actual number of voters in every phase.
