The doors of Hemkund Sahib opened

Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2024: Amidst the ongoing Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand, the doors of Hemkund Sahib, one of the sacred and popular pilgrimage sites of the Sikhs, opened for darshan today. Hemkund Sahib is the world’s tallest and world famous Gurudwara. Since this morning, thousands of devotees from the country and abroad started arriving at Hemkund Sahib. About 2000 devotees took darshan on this auspicious occasion.

This journey started with the departure of the first group from Rishikesh Gurudwara premises. On 22nd May, the Uttarakhand Governor along with religious followers sent off the group. This group stayed at Gurudwara Gobind Ghat on 23rd May and reached Gobind Dham (Ghangaria) on foot on 24th May. After night rest, the group left for Hemkund Sahib today.

The campus resonated with ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’

On the special occasion of opening of the doors, the group led by the Panj Pyaras reached the last stop of the Yatra, Shri Hemkund Sahib, singing kirtans to the tunes of bands and chanting “Jo Bole So Nihal”. The holy forms of the holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji were brought from the Sukhasan site to the Darbar Sahib at 9:30 am by the Gurdwara manager Sardar Gurnam Singh and the head Granthi Bhai Milap Singh, along with the Sangat, and while doing the holy lighting, Ardaas was done and the first Hukamnama of Guru Maharaj was issued.

Gorgeous decoration with flowers

Sukhmani Sahib Ji was recited by the chief Granthi at 10.15 am. After this, Gurbani Kirtan was sung by the Raggi groups from 11.30 am. Along with this, the service of Nishan Sahib Ji’s chola also continued. The entire Gurudwara complex and the Darbar Hall were decorated with flowers.

Colonel Virendra Ola and Brigadier M.S. Dhillon of 418 Independent Corps of Indian Army were also present on this occasion. Their team contributed the rest of the way for the Yatra. Along with the administration, the Gurughar Sevadars also cooperated a lot. On the auspicious occasion of opening of the gates, Sardar Narendrajit Singh Bindra, President of Gurudwara Trust and Sardar Seva Singh, Manager of Gurudwara Govind Ghat were also present. Narendrajit Singh Bindra said in his address that there is a lot of snow in Hemkund Sahib, so the elderly, small children and sick people should avoid coming on the Yatra for some time. Guidelines have also been issued by the government that YouTubers and bloggers should not make videography or reels at religious places so that the devotees face problems.

Gurudwara Trust appealed

The Gurudwara Trust has appealed that the devotees should come on the pilgrimage without hesitation and receive the blessings of Guru Maharaj. Apart from this, the devotees who are unable to come on the pilgrimage can watch the live telecast from Hemkund Sahib Ji on PTC Simran daily from 10 am to 1 pm. The Trust also expressed hope that all the devotees will cooperate with the administration and Gurughar Sevadars with pure feelings and mutual harmony and make the pilgrimage smooth and successful.
