Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Friday made a “courtesy call” on National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Paswan shared some pictures of his meeting with Nitish on social media and said, “Courtesy call on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and enquired about his well-being.”
Before the Lok Sabha elections, Chirag Paswan had a very bitter attitude towards Nitish Kumar. During a brief conversation with journalists after meeting Nitish, Paswan said, “There are still two more phases of the Lok Sabha elections left, so this was a courtesy meeting in a calm atmosphere. I have campaigned for JD(U) candidates in many seats. I shared my information about the situation there and he also took information about the area.”

Out of the 40 seats in Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting on the maximum number of 17 seats. JD(U) has fielded its candidates on 16 seats while Paswan’s party has got five seats. Apart from this, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi (Hindustani Awam Morcha) and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha (Rashtriya Lok Morcha) are contesting on one seat each.
Paswan said the NDA will perform better than in 2019 when it won all but one seat in Bihar. Taking a dig at the opposition, he said, “After the elections are over, they will be seen commenting on EVMs.” When asked about RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav imitating Bollywood songs in election rallies, Paswan said, “He is like my younger brother. I would like to remind him that elections can be won not through such tactics but by winning the trust of the people.”
Paswan also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his allegation that “only 22 people” became rich during the NDA rule. “If the prime minister had cared about only a handful of people, 25 crore people would not have come out of poverty. He is very frustrated because people have rejected his politics of appeasement,” Paswan said.
