Renowned American political scientist Ian Bremmer says that India’s economic performance has not been up to the mark for many decades, even though India has an extraordinary population and excellent intellectual capital. During an EXCLUSIVE interview with NDTV Profit, Ian Bremmer also said that although India has been growing rapidly for some years now, and at the international level too, India has become stronger than ever in defining its relations with other countries.
While discussing the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, global political risk consultant Ian Bremmer also talked about India’s economic future, and said, “The whole world has seen that India’s performance has been below potential and expectations for several decades… India has an extraordinary population and a very strong intellectual capital… So many American CEOs come from India, yet, as an economy, India’s performance has been below expectations…”

TIME editor Ian Bremmer added, “Although we are now seeing growth in India accelerate… we see India perhaps becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy next year, and then the third-largest economy by 2028… but at the same time, we are also seeing India becoming more powerful than ever in defining its relationships with the rest of the world…”

Citing research by the Eurasia Group on the seven-phase elections starting on April 19, 2024, he said that the BJP could win 305 seats (+/- 10) in the general election. According to Ian Bremmer, “(Prime Minister Narendra) Modi is almost certainly going to win a third term on the back of strong economic performance and continued reforms…”
